The feast of St. John Chrysostom is September 13th. He is a Doctor of the Church and was known for his incredibly insightful and powerful preaching. Saint John Chrysostom lived from 349 to 407. As one of the early Church fathers, his writing has been extremely beneficial to the faith. It is said that he knew the Bible so well because he had it memorized.
St. John Chrysostom lived a simple life and was deeply concerned with the needs of the poor. Though some of his ideas about the poor and clergy reforms were unpopular, he courageously stood by what he believed. He is honored as a Saint in the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Catholic churches.

If any be a devout lover of God, let him partake with gladness from this fair and radiant feast.
If any be a faithful servant, let him enter rejoicing into the joy of his Lord.
If any have wearied himself with fasting, let him now enjoy his reward.
If any have labored from the first hour, let him receive today his rightful due.
If any have come after the third, let him celebrate the feast with thankfulness.
